Morning time, I wake up and get ready to go.
Today is the day I vote.
Im headed for the city hall to vote for special people.
While I was there, I voted for a President, a Vice President
I voted for a Mayor and a Police Chief
I voted for things I thought to be fair, and against things I found to be unfair
I turned in my ballot and then went home.
When I got home, I went to sleep and woke up 2 years later, unknown to me at the time.
Rubbing my eyes, I got up and went outside to get some fresh air
Only to find the air was not so fresh.
The sky was black, and the hot breezes tasted like ash.
Through the darkness I made out a beam of light, someone with a torch from what I could tell.
I shouted to them, asking what had happened
The someone turned out to be a man, he looked to be in his fifties but when he spoke to me I heard what sounded like the voice of a young boy in his teen years
Its the war! he said while squinting at me to try and get a better look, He didnt seem to know who I was, nor did I know who he was.
War
? I replied looking shaken How?
He shrugged No one knows exactly how it started; all I can say about it is November 4th
And then I remembered
What year is it exactly?
The man told me it was November 2nd 2010.
I laughed.
Why?
Because I had yet again, woke up on another Election Day.
I nodded to the man and thanked him for the information, and attempted to find my way through the darkness.
I hadnt noticed it before, but in the distance I could now hear the whistle of bombs and screams of suffering people, it sent chills up my spine.
I kept thinking to myself
Did I make the right choice?
Did I actually accomplish anything valuable when I voted for the shining people who dazzled me with their promises of truth, life, peace and opportunity?
Where was the light at the end of this dark futures tunnel?
Falling to the ground, I wept tears for this broken future and the people who belonged to it.
I cursed my mistakes
Suddenly, it was morning again, and I was back in my own time, the date was November 4, 2008 and I was back, once again on an Election Day.
I got up from my bed and dressed for my day, ate my breakfast and got in my car to drive down to the polls as I had done before.
This time, however, I did not vote for the dazzling people who promised the world to me, instead, I voted for the people I found to be truthful and firm in their beliefs, I did not vote for the wavering man who promised an empty future.
I voted for my truth, the peoples truth, our justice and life, and our own great American way.
I invest my hope to the future and the actions of our new leaders, so that they may lead us to a true promise land.
A place where you dont have to stomp on someones values to get the liberties you need.
Where you dont need to kill multitudes of people just to gain the necessities of daily living, A place where you can be free and live in that freedom.
Truth - Justice Our own American way.
